Q&As with Nick

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: I grew up in Palos Heights, Illinois. We lived right near the baseball fields and the Palos Pool, so there was always something to do. I went to Amos Alonso Stagg High School in Palos Hills, and played hockey for the Cobras in Oak Lawn.

Q: Where did you go to college and what was your major?

A: I went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and studied Agricultural and Consumer Economics with a focus in Financial Planning. I was President of the Financial Planning Club my senior year and participated in multiple financial planning competitions.

Q: Family Life

A: I am very close with my family. My sister and I grew up playing hockey together, and our Dad always coached us. We like to take staycations in Delevan Lake, Wisconsin and Chicago.

Q: Where do you reside?

A: I live in Lincoln Park! I have lived there since 2022 and I enjoy how close I am to North Avenue Beach.

Q: What do you enjoy outside the office?

A: I like to play guitar, record music, and cook. I used to play hockey when I was younger, and I love getting on the ice whenever I can. In the winter, pond hockey is my favorite activity. Lincoln Park has many great restaurants, and my favorites are Evette’s and Ranalli’s pizza.

Q: Favorite Vacation?

A: My favorite vacation was to Puerto Vallarta with my Grandma in January of 2020. We have travelled around the world together, and Mexico was my favorite trip.

Q: Where is someplace you have not been that you want to visit someday?

A: I would love to visit San Sebastian one day. I have always wanted to try the food that San Sebastian is known for, namely their fish. I hope to visit in the near future!

Q: Favorite meal?

A: My favorite meal is the Steak and Gyro tacos from Evette’s in Lincoln Park. Evette’s is a Lebanese restaurant that incorporates their traditional cuisine staples.

Q: What made you get in the financial planning profession?

A: When I was in 8th grade, I saw how much our family’s financial planner helped us navigate difficult situations, and ever since then I wanted to be able to do the same for other families. I enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, focusing on Financial Planning. After college, I worked for Vanguard. It is rewarding to be able to help people financially.

Q: Pets?

A: Our family has 1 cat named Cheli (named after the legendary Blackhawks Defenseman, Chris Chelios). I hope to adopt a dog soon!

Q: Most influential financial book you have read?

A: Nudge by Richard Thaler. It details the influence behavioral economics has on society, and how to implement similar ideas, no matter what industry you work in.

Q: Favorite places in Chicago?

A: My favorite places in Chicago are the Lincoln Park Zoo, North Avenue Beach, and the restaurants Evette’s and Quartino. I live close to the Lincoln Park Zoo and North Avenue Beach, and visit both locations frequently.
